Compact wine knowledge at a high level
The WSET® Level 2 course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain an overview of the world's major wine styles and their production in a short space of time.
The qualification offers people with little previous knowledge the opportunity to acquire relevant wine knowledge for their professional activities. In addition, the course enables wine lovers to make more conscious decisions when buying wines. Knowledge about the production of wine, important label terms and the production of sparkling, sweet and liqueur wines is imparted.
Upon successful completion, participants receive an internationally recognised certificate and a pin.
Target Audience
This qualification is perfect for anyone who needs a solid knowledge of wine to be successful in their career. It is particularly useful in customer service and sales in the hospitality, retail, wholesale and wine tourism sectors. The course is also good for those privately interested in wine who want to expand their knowledge in a sound way.

Performance Assessment
The course concludes with an examination. This consists of 50 multiple-choice questions to be answered without aids in one hour. An overall mark of 55% is required to pass successfully.
Entry requirements
There are no restrictions. However, participants with no previous experience are recommended to complete the WSET® Level 1 qualification first. Participants should be over 18 years of age (minors aged 16 and over require written consent from their legal guardian). Participants who do not drink alcohol for health, religious or other reasons can also attend and successfully complete this course.
Recommended preparation
The course is fun but challenging. Participants should therefore read the textbook and course book, which we will send in advance, before starting the course. Self-study of 11 hours is recommended.

Is there a deadline for booking on to an online classroom course?Yes. You need to book at least 10 days before the start of the course.

What is the recommended self-study time for this programme?The online course material should take about 6 hours in total to complete. For a successful result, we do highly recommend that all students spend at least another 1-hour revision prior to sitting the exam.

Can I change my exam date?If you need more time, we can arrange another mutually convenient date. Please note that we require a minimum of 10 working days' notice prior to the exam day so that we can register you with WSET® Awards.

What if I'm uncertain about any of the content of the course programme?No problem. Throughout the online course, you have access to a subject specialist educator online who will respond to your course-related query.

How does the Online Classroom work?➨ After registration, you will receive an email from WSET® with instructions for signing into the Online Classroom. ➨ Once signed in, you will receive a course calendar with the weekly subjects, background information to read, activities relevant for each subject, tasting assignments (students have to supply their own samples) and quizzes. ➨ The results of your activities and tasting assignments need to be posted online. You can communicate with the online instructor and fellow students when it best suits you and not in real time. Attention: Interaction is crucial for success in this course. One or more mock exams form part of the study.

How long can I take to complete my studies?From enrollment, you have a full 12 months to complete the Online Classroom course and sit your exam. However, after the course end date, you will not be able to take part in any of the online activities and will no longer have the online educator support facility.

Can I sit the examination online?Yes, students can decide to sit their exam at our premises or online through remote invigilation. For the remote invigilation, students will need a reliable internet connection and both a computer and a smartphone.

How will I know what wines to taste?You will be informed which wines to taste by your online educator.

Is the WSET Level 1 right for me?We recommend WSET Level 1 for those who are just starting to learn about wine. The course provides a structured introduction to the fundamental elements of wine and how to match it with different types elements. The course is enjoyable and can be completed in a single day. At the end of the course there is a short (optional) multiple-choice exam, if you pass you will earn you a globally recognised wine certification.

What is the difference between WSET courses in German and in English?Besides the language, there is no difference in the content and materials. Only the language of instruction changes. Certificates are always issued in English. If courses are taken in German, there is a small sentence indicating this.

Are the course locations barrier-free?Our course location, the Technology Park Heidelberg - Conference Center, is barrier-free. Sometimes we teach in other places. Please let us know your accessibility requirements before booking so we can ensure you have a suitable environment.

Can I still drive after the course?We provide spittoons and strongly encourage you to use them. As long as you do it, you can drive without any problems.

When will I receive my WSET exam results?It may take four to six weeks for exam results to be available. All exams are sent to WSET London for marking and there may be occasional delays as they correct over 100,000 exams each year. Once WSET has sent us the results, we will email them to you. If you are successful, you will receive a certificate and a pin after a few weeks.
