INFORMATION

Course dates: 8 Jan to 4 February 2024. Online exam: 14 February 2024 at 6 pm or consult us for a classroom exam date. Registration deadline: 27 Dec 2023. This 4-week course is divided into 7 modules and delivered via WSET's Digital Classroom with a dedicated WSET Educator for this time. Each module has activities to help students understand the learning content. We highly recommend you log in to the course platform at least once a week and dedicate at least three hours weekly to cover the online activities. Regular access and participation in the activities are essential for this mode of study. In this introductory course to Spirits you will gain knowledge about: The key steps for the production of spirits The raw materials used in the production of various spirits The key flavour characteristics of various spirits The meaning of key labelling terms How to taste and describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT) The techniques of adding flavour to spirits How to store and serve spirits What to consider when making a balanced cocktail Products covered: Cognac, Rum, Brandy, Vodka, Tequila, Whisk(e)y, Flavoured Spirits and Aromatised Wines Upon successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. Please note: Samples are not included in the cost of this course. After enrolling for the course, you will get guidance on what styles to taste. What is included: Access to WSET's Digital Classroom for one year, an online tutor during the course time, one examination attempt (either online or in-person), a certificate and a lapel pin upon successful completion. Entry requirements: No formal qualifications are required. Candidates should be over 18 years of age. Basic computer literacy, internet navigation skills, and good English understanding. Examination: The exam has 30 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 45 minutes. A mark of 70% is required to pass. To sit your examination online*, you will need a computer or laptop (no tablet) and an additional smart device, such as a smartphone or tablet. *More information will be shared with you once you enroll.
